With the year 2008 almost finished American filmakers presented us with three hundred plus movies. Out of all these movies, over 70 are in the comedic genre. The following are some of the most popular laughers that you can see this year.
FORGETTING SAHRAH MARSHALL: Ater suffering a tough split with long time girlfriend Sarah, a TV sitcom actress, Peter finally plans to take a vacation to the Hawaiian Islands to start anew and forget about Sarah. As one might expect, upon checking into the resort, the first thing he sees is sarah and her new man, who has it all. This movie has all the ingredients of a thoughtful romantic comedy.
HAMLET 2: Dana Marshz, formerly a small time actor, has settled into teaching theater classes at the high school to students who just don’t care. When they lose a building at the campus, the administration decides the theater curriculum must be eliminated. Wanting to fight, he is determined to save the program by producing Hamlet 2, a sequel to the original work, which he put to paper himself.
PINEAPPLE EXPRESS: Complete stoner Dale unfortunately has just viewed a bad police officer, and a powerful drug dealer, kill someone. He was spotted witnessing what’s gone down. Knowing they’ve seen him, he is so shaken he throws down his joint, a rare blend namend pineapple express, and gets away fast. This joint is such a unique type of weed, that the bad guys can. The chase is on, Dale and his pot dealer friend Saul are on the run.
STEP BROTHERS: When two 40 year olds, who still live with their single parents, will now have to live in the same bedroom because their mom and dad get married, big problems loom. Casting John Reilly and Will Ferrell in those roles, and the conditions are right for lots of laughs. This comedy looks like a must see for comedy lovers.
ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO: Rent is over due and Zack and Miri, platonic friends since childhoold, need to come up with some cash soon. The answer? That’s obvious, go into the adult entertainment industry. As you can imagine this is a perfect enviornment for a funny film.
GET SMART: Maxwell Smart (agent 86) is back, can you believe it? would you believe..? The classic james bond spy spoof, gadgets galore, and all the great one liners. It is is a fun look back at the world of KAOS and CONTROL.
MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA: This is the continuation to the hugely successful movie Madagascar. The four animal heroes, Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, and Gloria the Hippo are ready to go back to the the Central Park Zoo in NY, putting an end to thier incredible adventure. With things going wrong again, as the Penguins are up to their old tricks, they are heading off to their true homeland, Africa.
ROLE MODELS: Danny (Paul Rudd) and Wheeler (William Scott) a couple of energy drink promoters, might be seeing some hard jail time after destroying the company vehicle while binging. The option to get out of being locked up is to perform 150 hours of community service. They will have to mentor some kids in a big brother type situation. A good situation for some good laughs.
TROPIC THUNDER: Filled with great actors we soon see this movie is a claasic parody of popular war films. In order to inspire his crew to create a quality war film, the now venturesome director into the middle of nowhere, and leaves them there by themselves. The goal is to scare them into producing a war classic, which hidden cameras will capture. Unbelievabley, as the director steps on an old land mine and dies, the crew is left on its own, and they are covinced everything is just an act, but the bullets flying are actually real. Great cast with incredible make up for Robert Downey Jr.and Tom Cruise.
